How important are TITLES in movies or books? Have you ever had an instance where you didn’t see a movie or read a book based on the title? Why or why not?

How important is the opening scene in a movie? Can you remember a specific opening that really caught your attention? Why did it do it?

What about endings? Have you ever read a book/watched a movie where you absolutely HATED the ending? What made it so bad?

What makes writing WORTH reading?  What makes some writing “boring” and some exciting to read? Do YOU like to write? Why or why not? Are there certain kinds of writing that you like to do more than others? What scares you about writing?

WELCOME to SCHOOL!

Welcome! I’m excited to be reading, writing, and learning with you this year! The purpose of this class is to teach you how to excel in the five areas of language arts: reading, writing, listening, speaking, & viewing. To accomplish this goal, we will explore a variety of different literature, analyze and practice writing, build vocabulary and grammar skills, and discuss all of it along the way! I look forward to getting to know all of you in the upcoming year.

This website is where you can go when you are ABSENT to find out what we did in class that day, what you will need to make up, and what your homework assignment was so you can stay on track and not fall behind.

Also, you can find information about projects/assignments, and reminders about tests and other due dates for class.
